The Wrestling Clothesline is proud to present the Second Annual Wrestling Clothesline's Top 50 Independent Women Wrestlers.
Due to the overwhelming success of last year's Wrestling Clothesline Top 50 Independent Women Wrestlers we have decided to do it again. Last year's list was even featured (both on the cover and with a multiple page spread) in Bill Apter's Total Wrestling Magazine!
The Wrestling Clothesline, being an avid supporter of women indy wrestling,
has decided to take the idea of ranking wrestlers in a slightly different
direction.
Throughout Ocotber and November, visitors to the Wrestling Clotheline were encouraged to send in and post their nominations for women they felt deserved to be on this year's list of the Top 50 Independent Women Wrestlers. From all the women who have been nominated, the Wrestling Clothesline Panel has narrowed the list down to those we feel are the Top 50 Independent Women Wrestlers.
Narrowing down the list to 50 is not an easy task. We're only human. There are many women we have not seen in action and without you letting us know about them, it would be impossible to take them into consideration.
When making our final decisions we used the following guidelines:
The list is a reflection of who we feel are the 50 best women wrestlers on the indy scene at the present time.
The list is reflective, but not limited too, a wrestlers previous 12 month body of work.
The women in the list should be active WRESTLERS and should wrestle on a regular basis. Women who primarily manage or valet will not be included.
Wrestlers we have seen work will get a higher rank than those who we have not seen.
Injuries will be factored into the decision making process. Poor booking will not.
The final list is comprised of those women nominated (by mail in and
message board votes) followed by our panel narrowing it down to our
selection of the top 50.
The final rankings are just our opinions and are being done to help generate discussion and bring attention to women's wrestling.

April Hunter April Hunter first became involved in wrestling as a WCW valet back in 1999. Soon after, April began training at Killer Kowalski's School. April, who has a body most would kill for, has proven why she is one of the most popular women on the indy scene today. April has worked for many promotions including NWA TNA, USA Pro, JCW, JAP, ECWA, ROH, WXW, CSWF, and Assault Wrestling. In addition to the US, April has competed in Japan, Mexico and England. April has held numerous titles, including the JAPW Tag Team Titles (with Slyck Wagner Brown) and is the current CSWF Women's champion. Her ability to step into the ring with men or women and have great matches with either says tons about her dedication to the profession. The fact that she is one of the few women who are continuously booked on indy show after indy show is a testament to her ability! |

Cindy Rogers Cindy has shown time and time again that she is one of, if not the most, fundamentally sound wrestlers in the business. No matter who she steps in the ring against, Cindy will have one of the top matches on any card she is booked on! Title Held: WXW Ladies Title |

Phoenix Phoenix was trained by the "All Knighters", graduates of the Hart Dungeon. She later honed her skills with AWF's Ron Hutchison. Phoenix has wrestled for Apocalypse Wrestling Federation, Far North Wrestling, United States Wrestling Federation, Asylum Championship Wrestling, New England Championship Wrestling, and B.E.E.R Wrestling. Last year, Phoenix made it to the finals of the Elite 8. Titles Held: GLORY Champion after surviving the GLORY girl tournament, 2002 |

Tracy Brooks - Tracy is a mainstay in NWA TNA. She also competes regularly for CSWF and numerous other indy promotions throughout the US and Canada. Tracy continues to be one of the most dominating women on the indy scene today.She proves time and time again that she is Not Just Another Pretty Face! Titles Held: Elite 8 Champion; AWF Heavyweight Champion. |

Malia Hosaka - Malia was trained by Killer Kowalski at Misty Blue Simms Camp and made her debut on August 7, 1987. Malia has worked nearly everywhere from WWE, to WCW to the LPWA. Now, in 2004, Malia is still going strong, working for indy promotions all over the U.S. and throughout the world. To not include Malia in the top 5 would be an injustice! |

Ariel - Our first of many encounters seeing Ariel was at the WXW Women's Super 8 where she defeated Bella Dawna before losing to Tracy Brooks. Ariel has continued to improve throughout the past year which can be seen as she is booked by so many promotions. Even if she doesn't know what a Weeble is, we had to rank her in the Top 10. Erica Porter When W.O.W. hit the airwaves Jungle Grrrl (Erica) was one of the most notable stars of the show. Other than one loss to Terri Gold, Erica was undefeated in W.O.W. (and she was one of the few women there who actually knew how to wrestle.) Once W.O.W. ended, Erica worked the indy scene and eventually signed a deal with UPW in California. She has gone on to win (and hold for a long time) the UPW Ladies Title there and is a standout in their promotion. Titles Held: UPW Ladies title |

Mercedes Martinez Last Year's Ranking: #10 Mercedes trained under former ECW TV champion Jason Knight at Knight's House of Pain dojo in Waterbury. Her first pro match came only 5 weeks after she began training, on November 12th, 2000 in Waterbury. CCW, WXW, NWA, and NECW are just a few of the promotions this amazing talent has worked for in the past. Keep an eye out for her in the near future as she continues to work for new promotions as well! |

Simply Luscious - Simply Luscious graduated from Shawn Michaels Wrestling Academy where she was trained by Shawn Michaels and head trainer Rudy Boy Gonzales. She also attended Dory Funk Jr.'s Funking Conservatory. Luscious has worked for ROH, ETW, GLOOW, CZW, PWF, IHPW, WPW, USA Pro, NWA TNA and numerous others. Luscious has shown tremendous improvement over the past year which is why she moved up in our rankings. Title Held: ETW Television Champion |

If there was a category for most improved woman wrestler Lily would win hands down. She is one of the few that still believes in kayfabe which is a pleasure to see in a business where too many fans think they know all there is to know about the business. |

Lady Victoria Trained at Al Snows Bodyslammers in Lima, Ohio. Victoria has been a bodybuilder for 28 years. Victoria has wrestled all across the US as well as in Japan with Mich Pro and Neo Japanese Ladies.Victoria had a phenomenal match with Sonya Blackhawk at this year's GLORY Convention.
