The DVD starts off with a music montage featuring some of
the matches that take place on the two available DVDs.
Commentary by Gerry Strauss
The DVD begins with Sumie Sakai vs Kayla Sparks
Sparks thakes the early offense, causing Sumie to leave the ring. Sparks follows her but is met with a dropkick, followed by a giant swing, upon her return to the ring. Sumie keeps control with a flurry of submission and offensive maneuvers (with some outside help from her friends). Sparks is able to fight back with two DDT's followed by a Tornado DDT for a 2 count. Sumie hits an eye poke and a northern lights suplex for a 2 count. Sumie then kisses Kayla and small packages her for the victory. A very enjoyable match.
A Reverse Three Way Dance is next. The first person to score the victory gets to leave the match, while the other two battle it out for second.
Cindy Rogers, Daizee Haze and Mercedes Martinez are the participants. Three of the best in the business today, in the ring at the same time. Who could ask for anything more?
Haze and Martinez immediately double team Rogers until she rolls out of the ring for a breather. Haze and Mercedes exchange offense as well as several 2 counts until Rogers pulls Haze from the ring and throws her into the ringpost. Mercedes nails Cindy and pulls her into the ring where the two exchange blows. Cindy hits a series of submission maneuvers on Mercedes. Daizee, donning Cindy's leather jacket, returns to the ring, tosses Mercedes out and attacks Cindy. Cindy is able to duck from Daizee's Heart Punch and applies a modified Tazmission to force Haze to tap. Cindy wins. Mercedes comes in and hits a hanging suplex on Daizee. Haze nails the Heart Punch but misses the Ikuza Kick. Mercedes is however rolled up for the pinfall. Overall, a great match by all three women.
Nikki Roxx vs Sumie Sakai is up next.
It's strange to see Sumie playing the face when she was
the heel just two matches ago. Nikkie wants a test of strength but Sumie
stomps her foot to take the early control. Sumie applies her patened Hair
Pull Camel Clutch. Roxx soon uses her size to her advantage and takes
control of the match. Sumie is able to hit a 619 (or whatever the area
code is in Japan) for a two count but Nikki returns the favor with a flapjack.
Sumie runs Nikki into the ropes but Nikki holds on. Sumie ends up kicking
the ref in the groin so he is unable to make the count when she rolls
up Nikki. Sumie then attacks the ref. I guess there are no DQ's because
the ref just takes the beating until Nikki nails Sumie with her finisher
for the pinfall. Another very good match.
Mercedes Martinez vs Melissa Stripes
The match starts off with a series of headlocks, armbars, and leglocks by both women. Stripes gets the upper hand until Martinez nails her with an Ikuza Kick. Mercedes dominates with chops and kicks. Stripes missed a moonsault and Martinez hit a Cradle Buster for the pin. Mercedes could carry a broom to a good match.
Cindy Rogers v Kayla Sparks vs Mercedes Martinez in a Triple Threat Match is next.
Rogers tries to run but is met on the outside by both her opponents. Kayla and Mercedes hit a double drop toe hold followed by a double elbow drop on Cindy. Mercedes and Kayla then square off until Cindy nails Kayla with a clothesline. Tons of back and forth action amonst all three women with everyone getting in a pretty equal amount of offense, while taking an equal beating. Mercedes hits a huge superbomb on Kayla and goes for the cover. Cindy runs over, throws Mercedes from the ring, and pins Kayla. Another outstanding match.
Cindy Rogers vs Ariel
This match took place on the NHPW show in Boonton. Since I already reviewed it when I reviewed that show I will just repeat what I initially said. In the first of two IndyGurlz matches on the card (and one of the two reasons most of us came to this show), Ariel small packaged "The Definition of Technician" Cindy Rogers, ending Cindy's undefeated streak in IG. Your referee for the bout was Alere Lil Feather. A very good match that had both girls show their personalities as well as their wrestling ability.
Three Way Women's TLC Match - Nikki Roxx vs Mercedes Martinez vs Melissa Stripes
I also reviewed this match, as I saw it live. I stand by my original statement that this was 2006 Match of the Year. The women started off wrestling but, it didn't take long before Nikki brought in a chair and nailed Stripes with it. Nikki and Mercedes then began to battle until Melissa brought in a ladder and knocked them both to the floor with it. Melissa set up the ladder (a little too far away from the ropes) and climbed to the top. She dove out and took a header to the floor. Luckilly, Nikki and Mercedes were able to protect her somewhat but the thud was pretty loud. As Melissa recovered, Nikki and Mercedes battled throughout the building, not holding back at all. The made their way back into the ringside area. Mercedes set up a table and laid out Nikki on it. Mercedes got back in the ring as the recovered Melissa climbed to the top rope. Mercedes hit Melissa with the chair and she fell towards the table. Nikki moved and Melissa crashed through the table. More chair shots by both women. Mercedes set up a table, on two chairs, in the middle of the ring and superplexed Nikki through them. Unfortunately, Mercedes went through the table more than Nikki and Nikki was able to cover her for the three count to become the NHPW Women's Champion.
This DVD also features three "Fan Cam" matches (all of which last about 8 minutes each).
The first Fan Cam match sees Alicia v Jana. Good back and forth action by both women. Jana hits a Side Russian Legsweep for a two count. Alicia almost immediately gets up and hits a sloppy Rikishi Driver for the pinfall. It seemed a little anti climactic for me.
Next up, Alere Little Feather vs Melissa Stripes. Alere had her tomahawk but not her Native American attire. The two women traded armbars and headlocks until Alere applied an Indian Deathlock. Stripes gained control and hit a horrible looking moonsault for the pinfall.
The last Fan Cam match saw Jana vs Alere Little Feather. Alere almost immediately left the ring for a breather. Upon returning to the ring she went on the warpath (get it!) with a series of chops and chokes, followed by a modified Indian Deathlock on Jana. Alere went to the top rope but Jana slammed her off it. Jana followed up with a suplex and a DDT for a two count. Alere chopped Jana and looked as if she was going for a Stunner when the DVD cut off. AHHH!! A good match with what I will presume was the Stunner for the finish.
All the matches on this DVD are entertaining. It is easily worth the price for the TLC match alone but, when you take into account that you are also getting the Reverse Three Way, Triple Threat Match, Sumie v Nikki, and Cindy v Ariel, there is no reason why you shouldn't pick up this DVD.
