The DVD starts off with a music montage featuring some of
the matches that take place on the DVD.
First up are the Moonshiners (Telulah Rae and Debbie Sue) vs the T-Birds
(Erik Andretti and Joey Image).
I am not a fan or advocate of mixed matches. However, this is not the
time or place for my diatribe on that. The match was strictly a comedy
match with an ending that made no sense to me.
Kayla Sparks vs Melissa Stripes was the second bout on the DVD.
Two of the best up and coming talents on the women’s independent
scene in a very good match. The match started off with some nice chain
wrestling, with each girl taking turns on offense. Stripes, using some
underhanded tactics soon gained the upper hand. At one point, Stripes
is blatantly choking Kayla with her leg. Commentator Gerry Strauss says
“Stripes is blatantly choking Kayla. In fact, the only way it would
be more obvious is if she were yelling ‘Look, I’m choking her!’”
That line made me laugh out loud. Overall, a very enjoyable match that
went a little short on time.
Telulah Rae faced off against Debbie Sue next. It was kind of strange
to have to watch these two face each other when they just teamed together
in the first match. The match was exactly what would be expected if these
two were to face off.
Mercedes Martinez then faced Nikki Roxx.
Two of the most talented independent wrestlers today in an outstanding
match. Nikki is a great heel and shines in the role in this match. The
two start off in the ring but soon battle to the floor where Nikki dominates.
Frustration builds for Nikki as she can not get more than a two count
on Mercedes. Mercedes applies a modified Indian Deathlock on Nikki but
Nikki reaches the rope for the break. A nice huracanrana by Nikki but
when she attempts a second one, Mercedes reverses it into a powerbomb.
An outstanding match with a good finish.
Psycho vs Jana was a short squash match.
Kayla Sparks and Alicia teamed up next to face Melissa Stripes and Taylor
Nicole.
I am not used to Alicia as a face (as I think she is an excellent heel)
so watching her team with the babyface Kayla was strange. Kayla worked
most of the match for her team. Luckily, so did Stripes. An odd ending
to an odd match.
The final bout on the DVD saw Nikki Roxx vs Sumie Sakai vs Megumi Yabushita.
How could anyone complain about a match between these three? The match
begins with Sumie and Megumi getting many two counts on each other until
Nikki decides to get involved. Roxx hits a gorgeous windmill backbreaker
on Sumie then exchanges forearm shots with Yabushita. Megumi and Sumie
battle some more. Sumie goes for a moonsault but does not connect with
anyone. Roxx with a nice spinebuster on Megumi. Sumie hits a fisherman
buster on Nikki but the ref gets dragged out by two guys at ringside.
From here the match goes downhill to the finish (luckily it’s not
drawn out too long).
Overall, a very enjoyable DVD with three stand out matches. If you are
a fan of women’s wrestling, or any of the girls who are listed here,
