Tex Benedict Interview. By P.Staniforth November 2004
Here to answer the questions that you want to know, is another star of the UK scene and a good friend of mine one of RBWs main stars, Tex Benedict.
PETER) : Hi, Tex; and as usual let me start out by thanking you for your time in doing this. To begin, where are you from; and what is your height and weight?
TEX) : Im 5"8, I weigh 155 Lbs. I am of course from London...............Arizona, USA!
PETER) : How would you describe yourself as a wrestler?
TEX) : Im cocky, Im confident; and a handful to compete with. I don't have a style, as I incorporate a mixture of everything into my game plan. I can wrestle with the wrestlers, I can fly with the flyers; and I can talk with the talkers.
PETER) : That to me is the best way to be, because you dont get pigeon-holed into one particular style or category. So. how did you get into the business; who trained you?
TEX) : I trained at NWA-UK Hammerlock - under the supervision of Justin Richards, Paul Travell and Mike Thomas. I got into the business largely through Carl Conroy who has helped me immensely in my progression.
PETER) : What were your first matches like?
TEX) : Fun for me, but horrible for the fans to watch I am sure. I try not to look back on past matches as I am a perfectionist and always try to look forwards.
PETER) : Who do you admire in wrestling, or like to watch and learn from?
TEX) : I admire many people. Wrestlers such as Doug Williams, Justin Richards and Marc Belton just to name a few. These are guys I love to watch as you always know that you will get to see a pure wrestling match. But back in the heyday of British wrestling, I cant think of many better than Johnny Saint and Kid McCoy.
PETER) : I wont deny being a big Marc Belton fan myself. Who are your friends in the business?
TEX) : Friends are few and far between in this business, but I would definitely class Justin Richards, Marc Belton, Carl Conroy and Stu Natt as some of my closest friends.
PETER) : At this point, what are your goals in professional wrestling?
TEX) : I would say, to keep making money and entertaining the fans. TV time would be great and who knows - maybe one day my own action figure!
PETER) : If the latter comes true, I want one! What do you like to do in your spare time?
TEX) : I play football, I coach football, I work for the largest Jewish youth organization; and I work with children as well as attending University where I study Sport Psychology.
PETER) : Yes, I recall one backstage conversation about football we had; about my beloved hometown football team Luton! Its also good to hear that you like to give back, people like you in the wrestling business do a great job of making others realize that wrestlers are not all bad people. What promotions do you currently work for?
TEX) : Currently - British Championship Wrestling (Scotland), Combat Sport Federation (Melksham), Revolution British Wrestling, and WILD (Scotland). I have worked for many others in the past including FWA and House of Pain Wrestling Federation in Maryland USA.
PETER) : What are your plans for the immediate future?
TEX) : Im facing Sabotage for CSF in Bath on November 13th, and Im appearing for RBW in Luton on November 20th come out and see me wrestle live!
PETER) : And finishing up at this point, thank you once again for your time; and is there anything youd like to promote and anyone youd like to thank?
TEX) : For another interview with me, check out www.wrestling101.com and I'd like to thank Peter for his hard work and dedication to the sport.
