Cade Sydal Interview.
By P.Staniforth 2003.

Proving that you dont have to be way over 6 foot and 250 pounds to be a wrestler, and that it's not the size of the dog in the fight - it's the size of the fight in the dog; here is Oklahoma USA's hottest lightweight wrestler Cade Sydal.
PETER STANIFORTH) : Hi Cade, thanks for your time. When did you first see wrestling?

CADE SYDAL) : I was born on wrestling. My grandparents, on my mom's side; always watched it and they still do. When my sister was born, ironically on my first birthday; I was eatting animal cracker cake and watching wrestling with my grandpa...at least that's what everyone tells me, because I wouldn't really remember personally.

PETER) : Yes, one day I have a vision my son and daughter will be telling the same kind of story; but of how Daddy watched too much wrestling when they were young! What made you want to become part of the business?

CADE) : The athleticism really. I always knew it was staged and everything, since as long as I can remember. But the way things flow always intrigued me. I guess, also, a subconscious desire to be famous; even if it's just locally famous.

PETER) : Ah, those bright lights. And it's always nice when people know your name, it's one extra little thing I enjoy about doing this. Tell us about childhood, and growing up?

CADE) : My dad was in the Air Force, so we travelled a lot. I see a lot of guys getting interviewed that say "growing up was great, my family is awesome." The truth is, I feel differently about them. I still credit them for helping to motivate me to improve, but only because they've always been my biggest naysayers in the business. I don't want to bore anyone with details, and I don't really feel that it's necessary to keep pouring it all out. I had a
steady roof over my head, and for the most part food on the table, and I never went to school naked so those are some positives.

PETER) : Reality such as that, is positive. When you do make it big, your feet will always be on the floor. How did you get your break in the wrestling business, and what was your first match like? Who gave you the opportunity, also?

CADE) : My first actual match was a squash, and the details escape me. My first match
with this gimmick, which is really the first time I had a name in the business; was a lot better and went a lot smoother. I was still really nervous though! And Frank Reed is the man that actually gave me the chance to be who I am.

PETER) : What are your feelings on WWE, TNA, and the indy's?

CADE) : The WWE is the best, obviously. They might not have the best workers, I
might disagree with their angles, and I might not like the politics we all hear about backstage but they're at the top of the pile. They're obviously doing something right. TNA is what I view as a secondary place to go. I've seen some of their shows, and was genuinely entertained, so that's a plus. They have better quality wrestling, with a few exceptions, than WWE; and they do the big spots almost weekly to keep the fans happy. They're also
obviously doing something right, with their PPV every week; and people still tune in. The indy's are my home, you know? TNA is just a big indy fed, as is Ring of Honor, CZW; and so on and so forth. I enjoy the indy's, it's a more interactive atmosphere and every time someone performs on the indy's I like to think that we do it as if our careers depend on the match so that the fans come back and we hopefully get noticed by bigger organizations; etc.

PETER) : In respect to the WWE, I agree but feel they're kind of hanging there due to the fact that TNA aren't currently big enough to challenge them fully. I think the indy workers and fans are just more down to earth and realistic myself, and realise just what the wrestlers are doing for their entertainment. Where do you currently wrestle?

CADE) : Currently I'm fixing to make a debut with Tornado Pro Wrestling in Oklahoma.
I also work for Midwest Independent Wrestling and Rampage Championship Wrestling in Illinois.

PETER) : Who have been your favourite opponents so far?

CADE) : My favorite opponents have been Kory "TWIST" Jackson, "Impressive" Anthony
Wayne, "Spoiled" Steven Kennedy, and Pondula. I had a lot of fun wrestling each of them, but Kory more than the rest; sorry guys.

PETER) : How would you give a description of you as a wrestler for those who haven't seen you before?
CADE) : I don't know. I got the blonde hair and blue eyes thing going for me. I usually make armcovers for myself to keep my nasty scar from a broken arm hidden, as it doesn't exactly appeal to anyone when they see it. I wear only one elbow pad, over my right elbow. Usually some random t-shirt, my white (with blue flames around the legs) Tajiri style pants, my black (with blue flames) kickpads; and wrestling shoes. Let's just say I usually cater more to the female fans, but guys like me too because I do the cool stuff in the ring.

PETER) : What do you like to do in your spare time?

CADE) : I'm actually a nerd, I guess. I play Dungeons & Dragons, but I can never get
anyone to play with me because they don't take me seriously. I also like going to the movies, hanging out with friends, meeting girls... I love girls, dude! But I never get much spare time to actually go out. I'm usually running, practicing, or travelling to wrestle...and so when I'm free I spend time online because I'm tired and don't want to go anywhere.

PETER) : Yeah, you and me sure do spend some time online gossiping and talking business... Well, that and the EWR wrestling simulation game! What are your plans and ambitions for the future?

CADE) : I'd like to work in Ring of Honor or TNA. I think my style would be better
suited in either of them.

PETER) : And I know you'd be great there. Well, to finish; I just want to thank you for this interview my friend - And do you have any message for the fans?

CADE) : I love my fans, and it's the fans that drive me to do what I do. If the fans sat on their hands, I wouldn't exactly be willing to take very many risks. I appreciate the reactions I get from fans, and have very rarely ever left a show feeling disappointed in myself because of lack of a reaction. There is one in particular, but I'm not really sure she's reading this. If she is, this is for her.... Amy Littlejohn is my number one 'Sydalite', and without her I can honestly say I'd be a sadder person. She's a real cool chick. And for everyone else, come to the shows and chat with me... I don't bite! Later days, and thanks Peter.
