Midlands RoundUp

June promises to be a massive month in the UK, not only do TNA make their first UK tour but Pro Wrestling NOAH are coming to England to hold their first ever show in the country. ‘European Navagation 2008’ is at the Coventry Skydome on June 21st with a cracker of a main event as Kenta Kobashi and Go Shiozaki take on Misuharu Misawa and Naomichi Marufuji. Also scheduled are Doug Williams and Nigel McGuinness in tag action, Joel Redman faces Atsushi Aoki

There’s also a pre-show six-man tag as Mark Haskins, Zack Sabre Jr and Dave Moralez take on Hubba Bubba Lucha and a wrestler yet to be confirmed.

Hubba Bubba Lucha got quite a few mentions in yesterdays article about the North of England and they’re

having an equally busy time in the Midlands. On May 17th BHW hold ‘One More Time’ at the Glamis Hall in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire and although Hubba Bubba Lucha (El Ligero and Bubblegum) are in the main event the match has more significance for one half of the team than the other. Why? Well El Ligero just happens to be the current BHW Champion and when this weekend Hubba Bubba Lucha face Stixx and John Cameron, Ligero will lose his title if he’s either pinned or made to submit. Also on that card Darren Burridge, who I reckon one day is going to end up in WWE, takes on ‘The Ghetto Superstar’ G.

EAW also hold cards in Northamptonshire attracting big crowds at every show. They recently celebrated their fifth anniversary with a show that saw Andy Poole win the County Title and Wheeler become Heavyweight Champion. Their next show is at the William Knibb Centre in Kettering on June 14th (Doors 7.30pm Start 8pm, ticket hotline 01205 871 560) which just happens to be the town where I was born.

Saul Adams is still the FCW Champion but for how long? Jonny Storm is determined to dethrone him and the wrestler who has a big fan in a certain Kurt Angle, is the number one challenger. Their next show is on May 25th, more info at www.futurewrestling.co.uk

HCW:UK will crown tag champions on May 29th in Wolverhampton and the losers won’t just leave without any belts but any money too as all the wrestlers fees are at stake as Mat Mensa and Nik Dutt face Caiman and The Gangster

So just what is an Anti-Disqualification match? Well it’s being held In LWL at the Bushbury Working Men’s Club in Wolverhampton where they hold ‘Up For Grabs’ on May 20th. It’s between Kris Navarro an Sykes, who has a habit of being disqualified in recent months. He can’t do that this time though because if either wrestler is disqualified they have to leave the company. Also on that card Dan Ryder defends his National Pride Title against Danny Devine, Marcus Kool and Platinum Page with a 20 minute time-limit and whoever gets the last pin/submission wins the title.

LPW have shows at the Co-Op Sports Club in Nuneaton on May 16th and the Lea Hall Social Club on the 30th. Can anyone beat The Boss and just why did Ronin turn heel?

.

Paul Malen is still the NBW Champion, he beat Kris Travis to retain his title at the Westpark Leisure Centre on May 10th

PCW are at the Daventry Leisure Centre on May 31st and top British wrestler and former ROH Pure Champion Doug Williams makes his debut for the company against Dave Moralez while Stixx faces Marty Scurll, Spud teams up with Mad Dog Maxx to take on Cool Runnings and the insane Mad Man Manson is up against T-Bone. SAS Wrestling hold ‘Elite Offensive’ at the Collingwood Centre in Birmingham on June 20th. Before then they have shows in London and Southampton, more news about that in tomorrow’s UK round-up.

SLAM have a busy month coming up as the rivalry between Paul Malen and Stixx continues. On May 25th there’s a free Academy show at Notts County FC as Team Malen takes on Team Stixx. Then on June 14th they’re at the Tamworth Assembly Halls with an eight-man elimination tag match and the feud between Stephanie Scope and Jetta continues. More info at www.slamwrestlinguk.com

Wrestle Midlands make their debut on June 13th at the Avenue Social Club in Birmingham with Gunns of Steele taking on Lord Graham Thomas and Sir Thomas Chamberlain plus Stixx v Bubblegum and Derice Coffie teams up with Cameron Kraze to take on ‘Gentleman’ Gilligan Gordon and Jules Lambrini.
