Anthony's Asylum
Greetings my fellow indy wrestling fans and welcome to Anthony's Asylum,"
the only column which treats indy wrestling and wrestlers like A-list
Hollywood actors!
In this edition I will be discussing: "The hard-knock
life in the Indies."
It is no secret that becoming a "pro wrestler" is a daunting
task within itself; that goes of course goes without stressing the paying
your dues part. If you ever knew the life of an independent pro-wrestler
you'd instantly notice the feelings of pain and desire engraved deep within
their souls. Some wrestlers through blood, sweat, and tears, are fortunate
to make it to that next level of turning this part-time weekend hobby
to a full-time lucrative living. (if done wisely) Some of these "weekend
warriors" struggle to make it to that next level up until their death.
(literally speaking) The ones that do reach this nirvana so to speak,
can only remember just how hard it really was. Yes, they also have to
break through the barriers set forth by the business, put up with the
criticisms, and keep a straight face along the way.
When the wrestler makes his/her dream come true, that is when the realization
factor sinks in. This is the point when the wrestler realizes who's who,
and what's what. Suddenly, the wrestler's success is embraced by many
including the same people that criticized and otherwise would've never
even given the wrestler the time of day from a decrepit watch. My only
advice to struggling wrestlers out there is to stay strong and to realize
that not all that glitters is made of gold!
Since we are in the subject of "The hard-knock life in the Indies,"
I cannot help but to mention how I have been helping wrestlers promote
themselves by designing/printing T-shirts for them. My latest client,
Dan De Man. Below is the front and back image of Dan De Man's new T-shirt
which will be available for sale Tonight at ECPW's X-mas chaos show in
the NJ Convention Center 97 Sunfield Ave. Edison, NJ. 7:30pm Bell Time!

On another note,
In case many of you are wondering, I am co-owner of Nocturnal Graphics
